Tenant Farmers Association Membership

There are 5 categories to choose from:

Full Membership – from £299 per annum

Full membership is for everyone who is farming land under an agricultural tenancy or other form of agreement and does not own the land. It is also ideal for those who are looking for opportunities to farm tenanted or other non-owned agricultural land. Full members of the TFA benefit from the complete range of services offered by the TFA including confidential one-to-one advice from our team of chartered rural surveyors who can assist them with their individual queries at no additional cost. This expert advice can include rent reviews, repairs, improvements, tenancy succession, notices to quit, notices to remedy and a host of other issues such as how to object to a proposed solar farm. Our team not only advise on tenancies and farm business related matters, but they can also assist with any issue which impacts the running of and future of a farm business and they can also give support when dealing with individual farming concerns. This might lead to members utilising the exclusively developed TFA Plus service where our expert team can act on specific matters on our members’ behalf. Full members also have access to specially negotiated discounts and affiliations, as well as online member-only information and resources. Additionally, full members can contribute relevant topics to enable the TFA to continue lobbying government, statutory bodies or other institutions on key issues. Full members can also become involved in the governance of the Association to ensure that it continues to meet the needs of the landlord tenant sector in agriculture. There are two membership options available for Full Members depending on how soon you need advice when joining, these are:

Full Member (Immediate advice required on joining): £349 pa (Subsequent renewals at £299 without Direct Debit or £249 with Direct Debit*)
Full Member (60-day waiting period for advice after joining): £299 pa (Subsequent renewals at £299 without Direct Debit or £249 with Direct Debit*)

Friend of the TFA – £80 per annum

This category of membership is open to all individuals who want to support the wider work of the TFA but who are not currently farming tenanted land or other non-owned land. This might be due to retirement as a tenant farmer or simply being interested in the work that we do and needing to support us. Friends of the TFA will not have access to specialist advice from the TFA’s own Rural Surveyors but they can still benefit from all of the information enjoyed by full members, as well as access a range of specially negotiated affiliations and discounts.

Professional Associate – £299 per annum

Individuals involved in the tenanted sector of agriculture including surveyors, solicitors, accountants and consultants can join the TFA on an individual basis as Professional Associates and gain access to one-to-one specialist advice on tenancies and other issues which may impact their own professional activities. Professional Associates are kept up to speed with important developments within the landlord tenant sector and have an opportunity to discuss matters of professional interest with the TFA’s expert team of rural surveyors. However, specific and detailed advice required for clients for whom Professional Associates are working, would only be available where the client is a full member of the TFA.

Subsidiary Professional Associate – £110 per annum

This level of membership is open to individuals working together within the same office location as an individual who is already a Professional Associate member and they will have access to the same benefits as the Professional Associate.

Student – £10 per annum

Students who are studying estate management, law, accountancy or other agriculture-related subjects will find a wealth of information within the members area of the TFA website including case law, tribunal reports, technical guidance notes, exclusive blog posts and rent data. This information can assist greatly in pursuing an academic or technical qualification, both in terms of a general understanding of the landlord tenant system of agriculture and for gaining information to assist with the production of assignments, projects, dissertations and presentations. Student membership is time-limited and provides access to the TFA’s member-only online content.

If you would like more information on the individual categories, please call the TFA on 0118 930 6130.
